The first surprise was Sunil Sethi himself with an indigo turban tied crisply and the blingy ‘S’ pendant shining on his white shirt, it took me seconds to recognize its him and not any other surd!.
Followed by an air of excitement at the Essex Farms’ new bowling alley ‘Yes Minister,’ the evening looked as promising as the invitation had declared it to be. The stylish lot from the fashion fraternity decided to surprise everyone by putting together a fashion showing as a preview of the Valaya’s latest collection and a fashionable ode to Akshay Kumar’s latest upcoming movie, ‘Singh is Bliing’.
“This is from my latest line and whatever I felt was relevant for this evening, was put together. The thought behind the line was clear, the selections were made to declare that bling doesn’t always mean it’s so–in-your-face and very loud, it can also mean very subtle and very elegant,” illuminated a stylishly elegant Valaya himself. The garments oozed out a touch of sophistication with a hint of delicacy submerged in soft double shaded pastels in net for the ladies and silk for the gentlemen. While the hunky surds walked in Kurta-pajamas and tapered trousers all combined with Signature Valaya Bandhgala jackets, the stylish kaurs sashayed down the ramp in lehengas and Churidars in Shades of green.
The walk was choreographed by the queen of Indian fashion industry who has been hugely instrumental in shaping up what we call the Indian Fashion scenario of today, Harmeet Bajaj. Dressed in short kurti teamed with a flared black palazzo, the shy lady was all about getting the show go smooth.
Indeed, the promise was well kept and the star studded cast of ‘Singh is Bliing’ rocked it. The leading ladies, Lara Dutta and Amy Jackson dressed in Indian ethnic lehengas looked ravishing. In fact, Akshay Kumar made sure he shook a ‘Punjabi leg’ with dance legend Prabhu Deva who has directed the movie. ‘Singh Is Bliing’ is a Bollywood action comedy film produced by Ashvini Yardi and Jayantilal Gada under the banners Grazing Goat Pictures and Pen India Pvt. Ltd.
