My work took me to Bheemtal for the first time in May 2011 ever since I started my project there, I have been visiting the place almost quarterly every year.
It’s a calm, scenic and peaceful place with a beautiful lake amidst green mountains. Although the green cover has depleted in the last five years, it still is a nice laidback kind of a weekend spot. Almost 300 kms from Delhi, one can reach here in 6-7 Hrs taking NH 24 (Delhi- Hapur Byepass- Muradabad Byepass-Rampur- Rudrapur-Halwani-Bheemtal).
It is work during the day and evenings are spent playing carom in our Resort corridors with rounds of ‘masala tea’. It’s unlike Naintal were you have a mall road for shopping and food, so evenings here can be well spent having quality time with your friends and family.
If you are a bird lover, this is a place you would fall in love with. With an amazing variety of birds owing to its rich flora and fauna, the valley even boasts of spotting some wild animals too. Our friends living there have spotted our dear National animal so many times in wee hours (on Sattal side).
The moment you wake up to a sunrise in Bheemtal, beautiful colourful flowers brighten up your day. The main attraction – the ‘taal’- (lake) is nice and huge. There is a nice aquarium in the middle of the lake and we have an ancient Mahadev Temple on its bank. One can indulge in some leisure time boating and enjoying the huge lake and view around.
There are two more taals- Naukuchia Taal and Sattal nearby almost 20 mins drive to South and North, respectively.
Apart from the famous Bhimeshwar Mahadev temple in Bheemtal, there are a few more temples in the vicinity. Almost 15 kms away is Kainchi Dham- Ashram of Neem Karoli Baba who inspired Apple and FB founders. If one drives a little more ahead there is this famous Hanuman Garhi Temple near Nanintal.
Nainital is just a half an hour distance. One can go to Naintal during the day and spend a quite evening in Bheemtal. Now there are a few small cafes in the area. And you also have paragliding to add adventure to your Holiday.
All together a nice place to spend your weekend, having quality time in your own company or in company of your friends / family.
Keep Travelling….take Vacations …make memories…
Amazing description which make one more inquisitive about Bhimtal. I have been to this place years back beautiful place indeed.
