An elegant collection by Gaurav Jai Gupta for his label Akaaro, the autumn/winter 2016 collection, by the designer was a statement in steel.
With emphasis on steel-shades of grey, the garments showcased a plethora of fusion wear, structured and layered just perfect for winters. The looks were kept minimalistic keeping in mind the casual look of the season but layering in bright stripes just balanced the scales right.
What stood out was the stainless steel merino wool pants for men and women both combined with asymmetrical jackets and capes.
Palazzos in uneven lengths with sharp cuts at the ankles and quilted jackets made for some great winter combinations. Short Kaftans in stripes combined with pants was a hit and a special mention to the handspun silk zari saris in metallic shades that looked ravishing.
The garments weren’t accessorised much although the tightly braided hair at the nape looked neat. What was a little disturbing was that models looked uncomfortable walking in flat block heels attached to the soles. However, the wrinkled boots accessories looked great and the hint of bright lining in pink and green peeping from inside was a great idea. Altogether, the collection was brilliantly designed.
