If you haven’t already, Tandav, the latest series on Netflix, is a must watch for all the right reasons. The story that grips it’s audience throughout, is all about power, passion, politics and play. So, here’s a quick tête-à-tête with the designer himself, giving us some insights to sporting the look.
The USP
The idea was to conceptualize and create an effortless wardrobe that is true to his character in the series but most importantly goes hand in hand with his personal sense of style that is without doubt everything that the RR brand DNA is about. Therefore, the looks created have a distinct RR appeal and USP.
The Challenges
The real challenge was to portray the character image that exudes a realness when it comes to the wardrobe visualization. Moreover, the classic and subtle tailoring is always the hardest to portray, thus, with the right balance of accessory accents we created a wholesome look.
The Fabric
The fabric selections were all natural handwoven and cotton & wool based blends that were best suited for the hour of the day, occasion and the type of scenes that dictated a particular material and color choice thus making every ensemble a suitable fit.
The looks are versatile enough for any wearer, who chooses to go with a similar wardrobe customization by brand RR. The wear-ability and ease of dressing is the key. Moreover, the balance of color, texture and silhouette is harmoniously put together. Consequently, the subtlety of dressing and the classic style is what makes every outfit timeless in appeal. Also, the right accessory accents which complement each look makes the outfits stand out.
The spring summer collection this season is inspired by similar styles as worn by Saif in the series. The ease and comfort of dressing is the main focus. Most importantly, the lightness in structure and an intelligent mix of tailored and flowy silhouettes creates a very unique mix of silhouettes this season.
Not essentially as the brand stands for classic dressing and everything within the realm of timeless styling is what the brand mood boards are built from. Thus, there is never a huge departure when it comes to that core aesthetic.
The safari suit or the conventional bush shirt and pant look is what is synonymous with India. However, the misconception of it being considered old fashioned needs to be redefined. It is an extremely slick attire choice, for instance, if tailored well and styled appropriately. And above all, it has so much potential when it comes to evolving and reinventing this style.
