The Maverick is back with his viewfinder’s treasure trails and this time around Dabboo Ratnani has brought in quite a surprise from the last year’s theme.
“The images in this year’s calender are not on one theme. I do make the heroes as the main heroes of my calender. And I don’t want to bind my creativity in my photography making it fit within a theme because I feel it restricts my thought process. I prefer to show as much variety in pictures as much is possible, creating a mix of outdoors, indoors, close ups, colour or black n white etc. Being a photographer it’s important to show different kinds of lighting and treatment to the pictures in terms of tone etc. I tried to shoot the stars in a way I had not done before so we tried different looks as well,” says Dabboo.
“The idea behind this shoot and yearly calender is non commercial, so everyone in the team does it for its creative aspect to keep something as memorabilia. Everybody puts in a lot of effort to make this happen. There are lots of fun moments because the actors come for the shoot and let their hair down. There’s no media or commercial pressure in terms of client or agency. It’s just the actors and my creative team, so the energy is very different and relaxed for everyone, which is reflective in the pictures as well. Our main focus is to create what we haven’t done before and thus we strive to come out creatively each year. This is my 21st calender and we also have special plans for our 25th calender. For everyone in the team, it’s s beautiful way to start the year with this calender!” He says.
