Photography Promotion Trust (PPT) showcases and encourages the use of photography as a means of social change. PPT is a non-profit organization started by Sudharak Olwe in 1999-2000, with an aim to create the ‘first international photography center’ in India where new aspiring and professional photographers committed to social documentary work can come together to share their projects through exhibitions, seminars and workshops.
First to make new approach in the lives of socially marginalized communities and second, to use the medium of photography for social subjects as a tool or means to explore, examine and build links in communities to promote public dialogue on such important issues.
The images are produced by the photographers of PPT stand according to the client’s demands and the same are used for publication in national and international publications. The photographers are also available for commercial assignments.
PPT in association with the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival also held an exhibition on ‘Images of Change’. This exhibition was held at NCPA (National Centre of Performing Arts)-Parimal Art Gallery, Mumbai. On display were some astonishing portrayal of pictures related to the life of people living in Mumbai city. Padmashri Sudharak Olwe has done an amazing job by taking this initiative to bring about this platform for photographers.
