Namita Karna is a Delhi based artist who is a full time practicing Senior Consultant for dentistry at Max Healthcare New Delhi She took to colors at the age of six and pursued her passion of paintings all throughout her studies in school and in college. Her current exhibition, In Search of Happiness, currently on display at Triveni Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi is a collection of her works since 2014 that marked the beginning of both an uninhibited introspective coupled with extrovert phases relative to her past. The flux has been a source of joy and happiness, which she attempts to capture in the art work.
Having studied in the Hills of Himachal (Lawrence School, Sanawar) and Kasturba Medical College, Namita had the advantage of being close to nature and learn from the serene environment around her.
A self-taught artist, Namita Karna, says the USP of her art form is the imaginative form and composition mixed along with the color juxtaposition for the overall thought.
“Senses respond to their respective stimuli and for me personally colors are the medium through which I can create maximum visual enticement and joy for myself as well as the viewer. This is my first Solo show. The days prior were exciting, anxious and nervous. Also a sudden burst of ideas, creativity and experimentation preceded a few weeks prior to the exhibition,” says the artist.
Namita has exhibited at the India art festival ( Mumbai 2014), India art festival ( Delhi 2016), India Art Festival via Gallery Art Eterne’ (Mumbai 2016), Cubist Spell (group show ) The cube Gallery , Goa and at the Confluence 16(fourth edition)AIFACS, New Delhi, in the past.
“Although they seem contrasting fields at first; many aspects of dentistry involve artistic elements which aide in fine art and vice versa,” says Namita about balancing her art and the profession that she pursues.
Her future plans are clear, she desires to evolve as an artist and to be able to create a quantum of work. “An artist is grateful for the opportunity to create and enrich through art. I will be working to achieve that,” culminates Namita Karna.
(The exhibition is on display till 21st May, 2017)
