Her mentor, Robert Katende, who introduces her to the game was himself a soccer coach oneself before becoming a missionary. The movie revolves around the life and struggles of Phiona before she goes on to becoming the international chess champion. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 7, 2016 in India.
Known for creating cult movies like Salaam Bombay and Monsoon Wedding, there’s no doubt Mira Nair will bring the adventures of Phiona in a remarkable way. Interestingly, her son, Zohran, who is a rapper, is also a part of the project, with his music.
