It’s the return of the hippie culture, declares, Peter Dundas, the Creative Director of Roberto Cavalli, with his Spring/Summer 17 collection which was showcased last night. Bringing you a glimpse of the show…
Punk, tribal, Aztec, bohemian, along with the signature Cavalli animal prints, and the polka dots; there was little bit of everything, a mix of all world cultures, it seemed like the house of Cavalli announces the season to be full of fun and freedom.
Flowy silhouettes in stark orange, capes with embroidery, flared bottoms for men and women both, loose denims, frills on tops and tassels on almost everything, and not to miss the embroidered suits for men, the collection was too much to gather at one glance. Add to it some interesting chunky pieces in silver and some junk-jewellery pieces to suit the spirit.
The look was hippie, nevertheless and there was also a lot of sheer fabric with silver work and I, especially loved the belts.
I don’t know why, I actually felt an India connect, especially in some designs like the long flared skirts with a melange of prints, patches and embroideries (reminds me of Rajasthan), the Long kurta for men in stripes and the floral short kurti for women.
The collection was intriguing with a burst of colours and good workmanship.
