One of the major hair problems that we have to face is dandruff. First, you should know what dandruff is. The white scales that you see on your shoulders arise because of the improper rinsing of shampoo.  That means the real dandruff is beneath your scalp which is a kind of bacterial infection that takes some time to develop and is even present in the summers.

This infection will take minimum 6 months to one year treatment for actual dandruff to go. Using hot water for rinsing hair increases dandruff.

It is believed that shampoos are good for hair which is not true, soaps are better than shampoo since their particle size is much bigger than Shampoo’s and is thus, easier to rinse off. Shampoo is a combination of various chemicals. If you want to use shampoo, prefer the one that contains Sulphate Free Detergent Base and is also free from Paraben Preservatives.

More importantly, it has natural active ingredients (As anti dandruff formula), Soft baby shampoo base for Extra dry and rough hair and scalp. And make sure you rinse it properly using lots of lukewarm water.

If you don’t rinse the shampoo properly you will lose the glow and reflection of your hair. Applying oil to hair is important in order to keep your hair in good shape. You will be able to see best results if right technique is used and correct choice of oil is made. Coconut oil can be a good option but more so in summers.

Dandruff is inside the skin so maintain daily hair care regime. Aromatherapy, in a very friendly way works on the skin pore. Here are some tips:

Oiling hair is the best remedy but never apply hair oil in the morning. If you wish to get better quality of hair, to encourage hair growth, to prevent early grey hairs, and split ends, etc, it is healthier to apply hair oil at night and take warm water to rinse the next day morning.

Oil should be on the scalp and not on the hair.

Coconut oil is the solution to many hair related problems. Coconut oil should be used with the steam wrap, ideally for 15-20 minutes only.

Always use lukewarm water. Cold water in winter can harm your hair and it can lead to dry, dull and breakable hair and worse if you use hot water which takes away the Scalp oil ( Sebum ) leaving your hair more dry, dull , rough and unmanageable.

You can put together base oil almond, Jojoba and olive oil. Here is the aromatherapy formula:

Mix 1 teaspoon of base oil. 2 drops of vitamin E oil. 1 drop of tea tree oil. 1 drop of pacholi oil and 1 drop of basil oil. It will help you get a good hair texture and it will make your hair stronger.

You can give steam to your hair but don’t forget to wash next day.

The role of conditioner in hair care cannot be ignored. All hair needs conditioning. It protects from towel damage. So, use conditioner if required. Remember to not use Leave On/ Build On conditioners that have silicon oil because they bring more gravitational pull to your hair making your Scalp weaker in the long run .

Prefer a good Rinse Off conditioner that has natural ingredients.
