The second one in the series where Ruchi Narang explains about the Chakras in our body, here’s about the Sacral Chakra, which is responsible for our vitality, sexuality and emotional state.
To continue the exploration of this beautiful human journey, it’s time to get connected to ourselves. Time to look within; time to explore the potential our body has, to experience our higher self.
The objective of these series is just to realize that our body communicates to us in various forms. If the right knowledge and understanding is dwelt upon us, we can also respond to it accordingly.
Our body is the only physical manifestation that stays with us though out the journey. Whether we understand its signals or not, it continues to communicate but, as they say, Ignorance is not a defense.
In the last article we spoke about the Muladhara Chakra, which also means the foundation.
Today, we are going to talk about the next Chakra.
The second chakra is called Swadishthana or also called the Sacral Chakra. It located about 3 fingers below the naval. The color of this chakra is Orange. And the Mantra is “Yam”
If your energies are dominant in your Swadisthana, you will be a pleasure seeker …You are somebody who would want to enjoy the world. That’s dominant in you! So, a person who is a pleasure seeker lives a little more intensely, than a person who is living just for food and sleep. (Dominance in the Muladhara Chakra)
Just different levels on intensities of life.; as the intensity increases, your ability to experience different dimensions of life moves from one area to another, so says Sadguru.
According to Dr Christiane Northrup, the Sacral Chakra in our body is associated with our emotions, vitality and sexuality. The health of this chakra is related to our beliefs regarding sex, power, money and the balanced state of our personal relationships. Once this chakra is fully awakened, a person might even get a clear understanding of the cycles of creation and destruction, birth and death. The physical organs that are governed by the chakras are: Reproductive organs, large intestine, lower vertebrae, pelvis, appendix and bladder.
When the Sacral Chakra is open it invites vitality and sexual energy, says Helmut G Sieczka in his book Chakra Breathing, resulting in a harmonious sex life and a well balanced physical body constitution along with stability in emotional life, feelings of connection and security towards oneself and others, apart from a developed sense of empathy. Whereas blockages in this chakra result in indecisiveness, doubt, feelings of lethargy in daily life, low energy levels, depression, lack of interest, clinging to the past, and physical and sexual inhibitions.
Depression is literally the closed state of this Chakra’s energy which in turn blocks the flow of love and pleasure into our lives and continue the pattern into relationships, work situations and most relationships in general. Sexual dysfunction is a direct result when this chakra is impaired, says Ambika Wauters in her book, Healing with the Energy of the Chakras.
As per our Yogic experiences, the spiritual path that a person takes is a journey from the Muladhara to the Shasrar. This beautiful journey is a progression from one dimension to another. As it is truly said Self -Realization is the first step to exploration! Let’s all take a step forward!
